“My twin boys were born prematurely at 29 weeks and spent the first two months of their lives in the NICU at Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon. I started working with Lara shortly after my boys were born to help me navigate pain I felt while exclusively pumping for my boys. Lara and I had a video consultation where she taught me how to hand express and drain my breasts after each pumping session so that I would avoid infections. Lara was incredibly knowledgeable and patient during this call and really helped me avoid further discomfort so I could continue providing milk for my boys while in the NICU.
Once my boys were released from the NICU, Lara helped me develop a strategy to transition from pumping to exclusively feeding from the breast. This was something I had no clue how to do before working with Lara. She helped me learn a variety of breastfeeding positions that I could do at home comfortably with my boys. Working with Lara gave me the confidence I needed to continue on my breastfeeding journey. Lara was extremely knowledgeable, loving and supportive. Her services were key to helping my partner and I navigate a very difficult time. She helped me realize that motherhood is not a journey that needs to be travelled alone and I would highly recommend her services to any mom. Thank you for all of your care Lara.”

“I had been breastfeeding my baby for a few weeks when suddenly my left breast started hurting. The breast was clearly engorged, hot to the touch and the pain was sharp and radiated to my armpit. I tried to take warm showers, massaging the breast, soaking the breast in warm salt baths but nothing was working for me and I started getting really worried, especially as an expat in Lisbon away from my mother and my sister.
At 11 pm I decided to look for a lactation consultant and found Lara’s website. I emailed her hoping she would get back to me at some point during the week - it was Sunday night. Lara replied within a few minutes that she could come by the following morning. It was a huge relief, especially as a red area was now clearly visible on the top of my breast.
Lara was wonderful and her help was essential in dealing with the early mastitis. Lara is very knowledgeable and professional and thanks to her guidance my breast was back to normal in a few days! Thank you Lara!”
